Clinique Mini’s

I’ve been a fan of Clinique’s skincare products for a while now, particularly the anti-blemish range, however I’ve never really branched out to trying their makeup products or anything really beyond that skincare range that I rave about constantly! Recently, Boots had an offer with Clinique where if you bought 2 items you’d get a makeup bag and the choice of 6  mini’s to fill it wish out of a selection of 9! It was a collaboration with the Designer Kapitza who designed the beautiful makeup bag that came with the collection, however, my local Boots store had some leftover stock from a previous collaboration with the designer Marimekko and so I chose this lovely green and pink makeup bag that you can see below instead!

The two goodies that I purchased myself were the Anti-blemish solutions clarifying lotion which I absolutely ADORE and swear by for my spot-prone skin and I also picked up the High Impact custom black Kajal eyeliner in the shade blackened brown. I thought I’d pick this up as it’s different from my usual gel pots and liquid liners and the ‘skip-proof’ formula is said to resist smudging, humidity, sweat and water – fab! I’ve been enjoying using this in my waterline which is something I haven’t done since I was in my early teens, but I think I can get away with it as I chose the shade ‘Blackened Brown’ which I think is a bit less harsh than a full on black liner!

So, moving on to the exciting part – the mini’s! Out of the 9 available mini’s I chose to test out the Take the Day off makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips; the 2-in-1 cleansing micellar gel+ light makeup remover; the True Bronze pressed powder Bronzer in the shade 02 sunkissed; a pop splash lip gloss in the shade 06 Adore U and the High Impact mascara in 01 Black. I also chose a super handy little clinique mirror as well which is so cute and will be perfect for on-the-go!

So this is the first eye-makeup specific product that I’ve tried in a while! Usually I use my Garnier Micellar Water to soak off any makeup on my eyes, however, I’ve really been wanting a separate product that will effortlessly remove my mascara and I think this is a good ‘un! It’s quite oily on the skin but I think that’s what makes it work so well when removing stubborn makeup such as waterproof eyeliner or mascara! I sometimes wake up with some residue under my eyes (a bit panda-esque to put it bluntly) when I use my micellar water, but this product is a dream and seems to remove almost every little trace of makeup on my eyes!

The first time I tested this, I didn’t read it properly and attempted to remove my whole days worth of heavy makeup with it, however I believe it is intended for much lighter makeup than I was wearing that day and so I love using it to remove my gym makeup instead as I only tend to wear a bit of concealer and bronzer to help with my confidence! It is lovely for removing light makeup and feels really refreshing and cooling on your skin which is really nice after a session at the gym! It’s also really handy that, unlike other cleansers, you don’t need to rinse it off afterwards!

I’m in love with this bronzer, to be honest. I’ts such a lovely warm shade and is definitely more on the buildable side which I really like rather than having to frantically buff out a super pigmeted bronzer! It gives your skin a really sunny glow as it’s not a matte bronzer to it gives the perfect pick-me-up to your skin on those grey days and wears really nicely, too!

I never know quite what to expect with mascara, I always seem to be hoping for miracles am left feeling disappointed. I have quite short lashes to be honest, so for me, I love a bit of volume and length.. actually a LOT of volume and length! This mascara doesn’t give me spidery eyelashes but does provide a bit of volume without going overkill. It separates the lashes and adds some length and overall I think it gives a nice fluffy, natural look. It’s not something I would personally buy again as I prefer a bit more drama with my lashes, but it is a good formula that doesn’t transfer onto my lids and lovely for more natural day-time makeup!

Anyone who knows me knows I’m not usually a gloss-girl, but I thought why not pick this one up as it looked like a lovely pinky-bronze shade and a gloss can be really pretty in the Summer as opposed to a harsh liquid lipstick. I love applying it over the top of a nude lipstick to add a bit of something-something, but like every other gloss it has a little bit of a sticky feeling which I prefer not to have on my lips as it distracts me all day!! It wears for a long time, though and isn’t anywhere near as annoying as other lipglosses. It doesn’t look stringy or clumpy on your lips and is overall, quite pretty and comfortable.

I’m super happy with these products. they’re good quality and they do what they say on the tin! The overall feel I get with these products is natural and sunkissed which is perfect for this time of year when you want a warm summer complexion with minimal effort! I’ve loved being able to experiment more with the brand through this little offer and I think I will be looking at purchasing some more in the future as I have my eye on a few of them such as the chubby sticks and the eyeshadows!

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this post and I’ll see you in the next one!

  1. Clinique has been one of my favourite brands for miniatures! I absolutely love their skincare atm as well and cannot stop using their thirst relief moisturiser!! I really want to try the bits you spoke about – I have, however, tried the bronzer and really love how well it works with my skin tone. Great post lovely xxx
