My boyfriend got me the Shaaanxo ‘The Remix’ palette last Christmas and ever since I have been using almost every single day to create my makeup looks! I’ve had this palette for about 7/8 months now and for some reason I am yet to write a blog post about it despite it being one of my most used (and certainly most loved) palettes! Well ladies and gentlemen, the blog post has finally arrived!
In comparison to the first palette released by Shannon, I think this one is much much better as it doesn’t include the lipsticks – instead it has 18 eyeshadows on both sides including the originals from the first palette and then 9 new shades! If you’ve seen my review on the original palette then you’d know I wasn’t the biggest fan of the lipsticks as I found them to be difficult to apply, streaky and to be honest I just didn’t think the colours suited me all that well so, needless to say I was super stoked when she released a palette that had eyeshadows on both sides! Every. Single. Shadow is so pigmented and easy to blend and there is a nice balance of mattes and shimmers in the palette! The ‘original’ side is what I usually use for my every day looks as its very neutral and easy to work with – it’s the 9 newer shades that are brighter and more ‘fun’!
Even though I am a self confessed beauty junkie, I sometimes struggle to be creative with my makeup and often I’ll use the same shades of eyeshadows on an every day basis which usually consist of matte browns and champagne or rose shimmers! I watch an abundance of Instagram and YouTube makeup tutorials and am constantly wishing I could create such bold, beautiful and mostly colourful looks but I always seem to look at a palette filled with a millions shades and still veer towards those neutrals that I am oh-so-comfortable with…
Although, like I just mentioned, I watch tutorials on a pretty much every day basis, I’ve never actually followed one! Shannon or ‘Shaaanxo’ has been releasing tutorials showing different ways you can use her palette to create an array of different looks and to be honest it makes me realise how I have all these colours yet I still do the same look on the daily and don’t experiment! Therefore, I thought it was definitely time to see how easy it actually is to create a look that is not my usual by following a step by step video tutorial! I’m still waiting for some inspo on how to use that gorgeous lilac shade ‘lover’, so for today I followed her most recent tutorial using the palette where she created a smoky winged liner for a nice wearable glam look!

So this is how it turned out! I must admit I had a hard time convincing myself to take it off because I was so obsessed with how it looked! The experience of following a tutorial was really weird but actually really helpful and I realised that maybe I don’t take everything in when I’m watching a tutorial as much as I do when I’m actually practicing it! It was hard in the sense that I had to pause and rewind the video a good few times to see what she was doing or if I’d missed what she said but other than that I’m so happy with how the look turned out! Would I follow a YouTube tutorial again? Absolutely!

Until next time, lovelies!
